Large-scale event planning involves the pre-event articulation and planning of future activities or events of considerable scale, resulting in written materials that estimate and prepare for required resources and potential scenarios. A well-crafted large-scale event plan provides strong guidance and control throughout the event, identifies potential flaws and solutions in advance, and ensures the smooth execution of a major event. Currently, large-scale event planning mainly falls into the following three types.

大型活动策划的三大类型

I. Marketing Planning

Marketing planning refers to thematic planning focused on generating profit through product sales, while also incorporating brand promotion. It includes new product launches, commercial promotions, product packaging, and marketing campaigns. The main characteristic of this type of large-scale event planning is that the event itself is sufficiently attractive to draw customer attention and encourage consumer participation and interest. With diverse formats such as auto shows, property expos, cultural performances, and sports competitions, the organizer's goal is often to use the event as a catalyst to attract advertising investment from corporate clients and to increase resources like readership, audience, and target consumers.

II. Communication Planning

Communication planning is a type of large-scale event planning that is primarily entertainment-oriented. Examples include cultural theme events, large-scale celebrations, and social parties or dances. This type focuses on brand promotion as the primary goal, with product sales and profit as secondary. It emphasizes building and disseminating a media image, concentrating on the promotional effect of event logos, visuals, and images. These often appear in the form of large backdrop boards, brochures, posters, and gift books. Additionally, coverage and information dissemination by newspaper media are crucial to the overall promotion of the event.

III. Mixed Planning

Mixed planning combines the characteristics of the two types above, satisfying both marketing needs and brand communication requirements. These large-scale event plans often rely on client orders, fixed advertising investments, and audience purchasing behavior as prerequisites, aiming to achieve brand promotion effects while generating revenue and ensuring the efficiency of the event investment.

Regardless of the type, the most important aspect of large-scale event planning is to capture the audience's psychology and increase promotional efforts to maximize benefits. In the current fiercely competitive market environment, media will play an increasingly important role in large-scale event planning. All types of large-scale event planning require substantial media promotion, and therefore, each must collaborate and communicate with media outlets.
