The ESPY Awards, short for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly, was founded by ESPN in 1993 and is held annually. Winners are selected through online voting by sports fans visiting the ESPN website, honoring the best athletes of the past year. Often referred to as the Oscars of sports, the ESPY Awards ceremony attracts top celebrities from both the sports and entertainment worlds each year.

Similar to the Oscars, the ESPY Awards season brings together a host of commercial sponsorship and celebration events centered around the awards.
